Diana Rosales is the Director of International Programs. An Interview with Diana is found HERE. Diana studied in Wisconsin, USA for 5 years. She moved there in 2009 as part of an exchange program for a semester at the U. of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She ended up staying to complete a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration in International Business. Then, she earned her Master Degree in International Public Affairs at the U. of Wisconsin-Madison.

Tania Uyaguari is from the town of San Bartolomé from the province of Azuay. She has a degree in Business Administration from Universidad de Cuenca. Tania started began working at CEDEI International Programs ten years ago, in June 2005. During the first years she was a Spanish teacher, which she labels as "a great experience".  In 2008 she was promoted to Academic Coordinator, the position that currently she performs.

Diana Espinoza: Academic Director. Email:

Diana Espinoza was born in Cuenca, Ecuador.  She has worked as the Academic Director of International Programs at the Foundation of Centers for Interamerican Studies, CEDEI, since 2011.Diana has a degree in economics from the ‘Universidad Estatal’ of Cuenca-Ecuador. She completed her postgraduate studies in Pedagogical Sciences with a minor in Curriculum Design and Training; Finances and Stock Market; Art with a minor in Art Theory and Philosophy. She has been a university professor of Business and Project Investigation for 12 years. This has allowed her to connect with young people and understand their vision of the world with an open and advanced mentality. This is the reason it is so gratifying for her to work with students that choose to study abroad and who are always interested in learning about new cultures and realities.

Dunia Cabrera: Administrative Director of International Programs / Homestay Coordinator. Email:

Dunia Cabrera began working at CEDEI in 2002, and was in charge of volunteer projects and internships for students of international programs.  In 2003 she was assigned the coordination of host families, student welfare and the visas processes for foreign staff. Because of her experience, she was appointed Administrative Director of International Programs department in 2010. Dunia works hard to ensure the students feel like they have a family and support outside of their home country. She considers the best part of her job is when she can witness the close bond created by the students and their host families.

Janae Knipp: International Programs Coordinator. Email:

Janae Knipp is from Colorado, USA and began working in CEDEI's Department of International Programs in August 2017. She has her B.S. in Spanish Education and Teaching English as a Second Language and is completing her Master's in International Education. Janae has traveled, studied, and worked in various Latin American countries, including nine months in Cuenca as an English teacher for CEDEI in 2014. She is thrilled to be back and share the richness of Ecuadorian culture and the charm of Cuenca with visiting students. Read how Janae fell in love with Cuenca HERE.

Felipe López: International Programs Coordinator. Email:

Felipe López was born in Cuenca-Ecuador. He has a Bachelor degree in Tourism from "Universidad del Azuay." He has been working in CEDEI’s International Programs Department as a coordinator since the beginning of May. Before that, he spent a year in Germany doing volunteer services, to explore his passion for meeting new people and understanding their perspectives. He spends his free time experiencing new cultures and learning their languages. For him, the best part of his job is that he is able to show the students how rich and unique Ecuador is.

Nicolás Bustos: International Programs Coordinator. Email:

Nicolás Bustos Rueda is from Cuenca, Ecuador. He has a degree in Tourism Engineering from University of Cuenca. He was also a cast member at the Walt Disney World Resorts working in the theme parks in Orlando, Florida. He studied Human Resources, Experimental Learning and Customer Service at the Disney University. Nicolás has been working as an International Programs Coordinator since April 2017. He has experience managing groups and coordinating trips for several excursions in the past. Nicolás loves to meet people and learn about the differences between cultures; working with community tourism is one of his favorite focuses.
